
Sadly, Cobb did not survive the attempt but his name proudly lives on through our business. He was a speedster who, in his boat, Crusader, attempted to break the World Water Speed Record on Loch Ness in 1952. We take our name from John Cobb who was a gentleman well known in the local area. my grandmother's coffee cake, my sister's gingerbread, Elma's fruit loaf. Many of our recipes have been handed down from family and friends and have not changed one bit. In 2002 we took over a farmhouse bakery in the Loch Ness-side village of Drumnadrochit and inherited a lovely range of traditional home-baked cakes which were already proving popular with customers throughout the Highlands of Scotland. My father in law brought a little microphone and speaker setup for speeches, and my husband was able to plus his tablet playlist into the restaurant's speaker system for music throughout the night.Īdelina was phenomenal to work with in the planning process (and was super patient with us, too, as we explored menu options!). So when my husband and I began to hunt for a rehearsal dinner location for our wedding, we were both delighted to find that Highland Bakery's Highland Ave location hosts evening dinners! If you hit a ~$2k food purchase minimum, the venue rental fee is waived (even with generous breakfast-for-dinner buffet for 65 people we were under that, so they added on a ton of pastries for desserts at our wedding so we'd hit it! Wonderful folks). I also love to grab brunch here on the weekends. We often have Highland Bakery cater events for my office, and their coffee carts at Georgia Tech are the only thing that got me through late night studios as a student. We got so many compliments on the cupcakes - there were hardly any left and at one point there was a line for the cupcakes! I wish I had gotten a picture of that! We look forward to going back every year to get cupcakes for our anniversary! She was very responsive and had several good ideas - like matching cupcake liners and using pearls to make the tiers of cupcakes look more uniform, she even helped me select a solid reasonably priced cupcake stand on Etsy! I liked that the delivery fee was based on mileage - that was a great savings since we were getting married near the bakery. They definitely had the best tasting cupcakes when we were trying different bakeries out, and the price point was great too!
